Experts have declared that by 2040, the U. S. will no longer have a racial/ethnic majority. Still, as our houses of worship bear witness to every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays remain the most religiously and racially segregated days of the week. At McCormick Theological Seminary, we already are learning and living in a community that experiences the rich and engaging diversity that makes up the body of Christ. As Paul says, “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27). By being an institution of higher learning that is Cross-cultural, Urban, Reformed, and Ecumenical, we are striving for a future church that lives by the motto: Difference. Building. Connection. We believe we have caught a glimpse of the Church’s future in the heart of this City of Big Shoulders.
